.About
NetCOBOL for .NET
Fujitsu NetCOBOL for .NET smoothly integrates with other
languages such as Visual Basic, C#, and Eiffel. Fujitsu
Software is the only COBOL vendor to deliver support
for Microsoft .NET and ASP.NET, including Web Services.
Fujitsu Software is ensuring that COBOL will be a first
class language in the .NET Framework by developing all
of the tools necessary to make COBOL programmers highly
productive in the .NET Framework.
Full details of the product can be found on the NetCOBOL
for .NET product page.
Manuals
Installation
and License Management Guide Provides installation
instructions and information on managing your NetCOBOL
for .NET licenses, such as how to maintain your license
over major machine upgrades and what to do if your machine
fails.
NetCOBOL
for .NET Quick-Start Samples
Our partner, Intensity Software, has created and
hosted a number of samples for NetCOBOL for .NET. This
is a great place to go to see some realistic examples
of how to use NetCOBOL for .NET with the latest Microsoft
Technology. This is hosted on the Intensity software
site, so the graphics are, uh, Intense!
IBuySpy Store ASP.NET
Sample Application
IBuySpy is a fictitious
Web-based catalog sales site developed by Microsoft
and Vertigo Software to provide an example of using
ASP.NET. We've worked with Intensity
Software to create a COBOL version of this application.
We
suggest you:
-
Check out the IBuySpy store (a fun experience!) driven
by NetCOBOL for .NET at: http://www.ibuyspycobol.com.
The link on the main IBuySpy Store page "IBuySpy
Store Documentation" describes how the application
is constructed, including details and views of the
NetCOBOL sources. You'll get a good view of using
ASP.NET and an insight into other .NET programming
concepts as well.
-
Optionally you can compare the NetCOBOL version to
Microsoft's version (written in VB.NET and/or C#)
by connecting to http://www.ibuyspystore.com.
- Then
download
the IBuySpy Store sources and database for yourself
so that you can inspect, build and play with the sources.
Training
Are you ready for .NET?
Microsoft's .NET Framework introduces many new terms
and concepts, even to those familiar with Microsoft
Windows technology. In addition, Fujitsu has added enhancements
and extensions to COBOL to support the features of the
.NET Framework. Before programming in this new environment,
it is important to have a good understanding of the
basic .NET terminology.
COBOL
