| 1. From the File menu select New Data File. The Open dialog box is displayed. |

| 2. Enter the name of the file to be created. Click OK to display the Data File Setup
dialog box. Note: If the name of an existing data file is entered, the Select Data
File dialog box is displayed. Click the Data File Setup button only if a setting needs to be changed. Otherwise, go to step 4. |

| 3. Click on Analyze Library to specify and
process the COBOL record description. Enter any other required File
Information and click OK. Data Editor displays the
Select Data File dialog box. |

| 4. Leave the default selection Add in the
Select Data File dialog box and click OK. |

| 5. Data Editor displays the Record
Format View. Add the first record, and then
use the Record Menu to add more records. |

| 6. Save your changes by selecting Save and Close
Data File from the File menu. |
